A fantastic way to get to know the picturesque streets of the old city as well as the medieval monuments of Heraklion.
Description
Start your fun from the busy road of 25 August, which is a commercial center of Heraklion and we meet the first great monument of Loggia. In the center of the city there are many monuments of the medieval times of Crete, which show its great acne in these years. South of Loggia, it is the Basilica of St. Mark and it was the Cathedral of Crete. Today, St. Marks houses the Municipal Art Gallery of Heraklion. Within a few meters of the church, there is the ornate fountain, known as the “”Lions””. Southwest of Lions Square, 100 meters away, is the Medieval Monastery of Saint Catherine. A few meters from Saint Catherine stands the Metropolitan Church of Agios Minas, the patron saint of Heraklion. You continue from the picturesque streets of the old town and pass through the courthouses to get to the open market of 1821, where you are in front of the Bebo – Sebilet fountain. You continue towards Eleftherias Square and the Archaeological Museum of the city. At the end of your fun, you descend to the coastal road and meet the port that stands out for the fortress of Koules.
